Invisalign Dentist

It may not be apparent what to look for when searching for an Invisalign dentist/orthodontist. You want a dentist who is going to be precise, reputable, and affordable. Unfortunately they aren’t a dime a dozen. There are some steps you can take to find a well-respected Invisalign provider who will help you along the way.

Trained in Invisalign

Special training is required for all dentists to be able to provide Invisalign. This does not mean that once a dentist is trained they are now masters of the Invisalign treatment. All Invisalign-trained dentists are not created equal. Many dentists take the training, but fail to be progressive in using it, and will only treat very minor malocclusions. On the other hand, there are some that respond to the needs of patients and will do what they can to get you Invisalign braces.

Where to look for an Invisalign Dentist

Invisalign DentistYou know what you need going into the consultation and the questions to ask, but it can be tough to start looking. There are some great places to look. The first is Invisalign’s website (Invisalign.com). Their zip code search will direct you to a close dentist and provide you with information about them, including how many Invisalign treatments they do. Another great place is right here. We have dentists that offer free consultations for Invisalign patients and can help to answer any of your questions. Searching for Invisalign reviews in your area is also a great tool for finding a reputable dentist/orthodontist in your city.

Invisalign Provider Time and Cost

The most important part about looking for an Invisalign dentist is affordability and convenience. In the long run it is better to pay more for a dentist that is well respected and experienced than to find the cheapest dentist around because you may end up paying for it, in hassles and headaches.

Like we stated earlier, no Invisalign dentist is created equal. This goes for price as well. Depending on the city you live in, the location of the dentist, and their diagnosis of your teeth, will depend on how much you pay for Invisalign. If you like the Invisalign provider and they have assured you they can get the job done; don’t shop around until your blue, stick with that dentist/orthodontist. Insurance should cover some or all of the treatment, and dentists have great financing options for Invisalign.

But you shouldn’t have too much work when it comes to finding a reputable Invisalign dentist, because we have done most of the work for you. Just put in your city and request a free consultation. We find your dentist and they call you. It’s like match.com, only connecting you with an Invisalign Provider!

Invisalign Teen - To Target 13-19 Years Old

Invisalign Teen - To Target 13-19 Years OldEveryone by now has heard of Invisalign, growing rapidly since its inception 11 years ago. Invisalign is revolutionary because instead of the “metal bracket” traditional braces, Invisalign is invisible while still straightening your teeth. Invisible braces have become somewhat of a phenomenon in America, except among early teens, a huge market for traditional braces. Originally you couldn’t get Invisalign unless you were at least 16 (most of the time older) because of baby teeth issues etc…Now Invisalign Teen can treat teens as young as 13 years old with some new added benefits for those who are in their growing years.

Invisalign Teen Benefits

Invisalign Teen is slightly different from original Invisalign with some fun modifications. Most of the new features are aimed at growing teens and their growing mouths. The most interesting new addition comes in the form of a blue dot on the aligners. This is a compliance indicator to keep teens wearing their aligners. The blue dot disappears only when you wear it. If you take it out a lot, that blue dot lets parents know you haven’t been wearing it. Invisalign Dentists and Orthodontists will tell you that not wearing your Invisalign aligners might be the most important mistake young adults make during treatment. Some would even say the only time Invisalign does not work is when aligners aren’t worn. The new blue dot will provide a great monitor for parents and a reason for teens to keep the aligners in.

Replacement Aligners

Another highlight of Invisalign Teen is replacement aligners. I know when I was a teen I lost my retainer a lot. So I can attest to the need for replacement aligners. Align Technology gives the teen 6 replacement aligners as part of the Invisalign Teen treatment. Don’t carelessly wear and lose your aligners, but this will keep parents more rest assured that the Orthodontist does not have to be called the 2nd time the aligner has gone missing.

Functionality

What was not possible with Invisalign Original is now possible with Invisalign Teen. The modified aligners are engineered to address natural eruption of molars and root growth, Still invisible, but made a little bit different than the traditional Invisalign treatment to accommodate, the growing, wild teen.

Invisalign Teen Price

The price of Invisalign teen is yet to be determined as they are still in their pilot program. Look back for more info on the cost of Invisalign Teen in future posts or contact one of our dentists in your area. It is a great time at the creation of Invisalign Teen to get something better for your teen or yourself than metal mouth tin cans. Visit a dentist and look for Invisalign Teen to launch at the end of this month.

Persisting through Invisalign

Our great President Jimmy Carter said, “If you have a task to perform and are vitally interested in it, excited and challenged by it, then you will exert maximum energy. But in the excitement, the pain of fatigue dissipates, and the exuberance of what you hope to achieve overcomes the weariness.” At times exuberance is what you need to get through the Invisalign Treatment. The trays may be uncomfortable for a while, and if you have a bad malocclusion it will most likely be painful, especially in the first two weeks. So what can you do to make it not so awful?

Aligners

Spend some of your time making a calendar or spreadsheet where you map out and schedule when you can take the aligners out. You are required to leave the aligners in 20 -22 hours a day for them to have any effect on straightening your teeth. If you don’t you will back-track in your treatment process and spend more time on the treatment altogether. Losing your aligners can also result in not completing your treatment. Keep track of those things.

The Lisp is only temporary

Speech is a large problem for many patients who have orthodontic treatment done. The aligners temporarily affect your speech, and you may get a lisp and salivate. It is ok, a lot of patients do. Most speech impediments will disappear in the first week, so be patient, your mouth will adapt. Some patients quit after the first week because they are annoyed with the lisp the aligners create. This is a mistake and you are still left with the problem. Commit to your dentist 100%. You will be extremely happy in the end.

Dentist’s Support

There are other rare cases where a tooth will move into the wrong place and cause pain in that area because it has become lodged in its attempt to be moved. In this case see your Invisalign dentist because the tooth may need to be removed. Invisalign’s ClinCheck is usually right on when it comes to creating the aligners, but problems can arise with the way your roots attempt to move. In this case new aligners may be needed to correct the matter. It may be a frustrating part of the treatment, but once again commit and you wont regret it.

Invisalign Retainer

Lastly, when you finish the treatment you have not reached the Promised Land of straight teeth just yet. Your teeth’s position at the end of the treatment may not be perfectly stable. Most patients must wear a retainer. It is still clear like other Invisalign products. The Invisalign retainer you wear will significantly enhance the stability of your teeth. The same message stated earlier holds true for the retainer. The more you keep it on and in your mouth the quicker the process. How long you have to wear the retainer may be undetermined. The dentist will work with you to come up with a finished date, but it is not rare that a retainer may be a lifetime commitment.

Invisalign Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign Frequently Asked QuestionsHere are some common questions that will help you understand Invisalign and help you decide what to do in your endeavor for a perfect smile. If you have a question that doesn’t show up on this post, and you really want it answered, add a comment below. We will respond ASAP.

Does Invisalign really work?

Yes, It has been clinically proven that in both research studies and actual orthodontic practice nationwide that Invisalign is effective at straightening teeth. And yes, without metal or wires.

What do the aligners look like and what are they made of?

The aligners are what is shaped specifically to your mouth. They are made of a clear plastic that is nearly invisible when worn. The plastic is medical grade and very strong. There are a lot of skeptics out there who don’t think Invisalign is virtually invisible. Invisalign braces are not completely unnoticeable, but you will keep a much lower profile than our metal counterparts. The aligners look a lot like whitening trays, but are custom fit to your mouth and needs.

Does My Insurance cover Invisalign?

Everyone’s coverage is different and benefits differ from policy to policy so it is best to look over what your Insurance covers and to talk to your Invisalign dentist. If you have Orthodontic coverage, Invisalign should be covered just like traditional braces. But this is a tough one to answer because it really depends.

How much does Invisalign Cost?

Invisalign costs around the same as traditional braces. It varies how severe you malocclusion (orthodontic condition) is and how extensive the treatment will need to be. The amount of aligners you receive usually tells you how much you will need to pay. Invisalign averages around $5000, traditional braces are very similar. Invisalign Express Treatment is a shorter treatment that treats more minor conditions. Its cost is around $1500-$3000.

I heard Braces hurt…Is Invisalign Painful?

The first few days of the Invisalign treatment are the most painful. So yes, there are Invisalign pains. The same goes for traditional braces. You have to remember that your teeth are moving, when that happens, bones break. Your teeth heal and settle and are sore from the initial movement. Once the first few days are over your teeth should be less sensitive and you shouldn’t be in pain.

What are the benefits of choosing Invisalign?

When comparing Invisalign to traditional braces the benefits are simple to see. The most obvious benefit is being able to straighten your teeth without anyone noticing. The nearly invisible braces win over metal brackets and wires any day. Another benefit is being able to remove the aligners. The daily tasks of eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth do not have to become a hassle with braces. You can remove them easily. Comfort is another huge benefit of Invisalign. NO METAL so there is less irritation on your gums and tongue. No wires and brackets also means less time in the doctors chair getting those adjustments. Most Invisalign patients go back every 6 weeks, but it depends on the dentist/orthodontist. Lastly, with Invisalign, you are able to view your progress throughout the treatment with ClinCheck software. It is great to see a goal in front of you and progress happening.

I heard about Invisalign Express…What is it?

Invisalign Express is very similar to the full treatment, but treats more mild orthodontic conditions like minor crowding, or spacing. The treatment usually takes less than 6 months and is less costly then the full treatment. It is up to you and your dentist to decide which treatment would be best for you.

Are Dentists trained in how to make Invisalign?

Yes and No, Dentists don’t make Invisalign. With the help of ClinCheck software the aligners are made by Invisalign and are sent to the dentist, after they are custom made to your teeth through impression molds. And Yes, Dentists do need specific training and get certified to offer Invisalign. There are almost 30,000 dentists worldwide that offer the Invisalign treatment.

How does Invisalign move your teeth?

This is a great question, because we are so used to metal brackets and wires being able to move our monstrous teeth and roots, however Invisalign’s biomechanics are very similar to that of traditional braces. Instead of pulling the teeth, the aligners press directly on the teeth, shaping and moving them in the direction of the aligners. The movements are very deliberate and part of the treatment, it is important that you keep your aligners in as long as you can, so that you can progress through the treatment as planned.
