Invisalign is a…. Sea Creature?
Invisalign is not a sea creature. It is like braces. Invisalign is a series of molds/aligners used to straighten your teeth. Instead of traditional braces pulling your teeth, Invisalign pushes on them to make them go in the right direction. The aligners (or molds) are virtually invisible, which means you are straightening your teeth without anyone knowing. These clear braces are also removable, so you can take the aligners out to do normal day to day essentials, such as eating or brushing your teeth. This makes for easy maintenance in your oral health and hygiene during treatment. With traditional braces it is usually a different story. Many people have serious plaque and cavity issues during or concluding their treatment. Invisalign is a great way for adults to straighten their teeth, and while it isn’t for every malocclusion, it is definitely worth talking to Dr. Llewellyn about.
Invisalign gives you a new Outlook
Invisalign sounds pretty great so far right? It gets better. Invisalign is usually worn for 6-9 months. That is almost half the time of traditional braces. The process starts with Dr. Llewellyn taking digital impressions of your teeth, then using Invisalign’s 3D imaging software, a series of trays are made. You wear each aligner (tray) for approx. 2 weeks. These trays move your teeth to a target position and then you put the next aligner in. Once you are on your last aligner you will see how much your mouth has changed and how far you have come in treatment.
It isn’t heaven all the time. There does come some pain with the Invisalign treatment. After all it is moving your teeth! But most patients say that the pain is mild and usually goes away within the first few days of each aligner. Talk to Dr. Llewellyn about your pain tolerance and issues you may have. Going through a little pain the first week is worth the new outlook you get once Invisalign has changed your smile.
