We lay out some important information for you before you visit Dr. Sushner

About Invisalign

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to straighten your teeth. It is a little different than traditional braces in that it pushes your teeth into position as opposed to pulling your teeth. Though it can’t fix all malocclusions (crooked teeth) the great thing about Invisalign is that it’s nearly invisible and removable. Unlike metal braces, Invisalign braces can be removed to eat, brush your teeth and do needed everyday essentials. Dr. Sushner can give more advice on how long to keep your aligners in, when to remove them etc… But it is great to know that they are removable and hardly noticeable.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign in Washington DCYou can check out our other posts, which go into detail on how Invisalign works, but here we will lay down some of the framework and ground rules of Invisalign. Dr. Sushner will take impressions of your teeth at the beginning stage of Invisalign. Then Invisalign’s 3D imaging software will create molds (or trays) and send them to Dr. Sushner. These trays are molds of your teeth and you will wear them in approx. 2 week successions. Each aligner moves your teeth to a target position and continues until the Invisalign treatment is finished. You are required to keep your aligners in about 20 hours a day. The more you keep your aligners in the quicker the process. Dr. Sushner will tell you it is important to keep your aligners in, so not to prolong the process or even back track in treatment. So keep your aligners in!

Hello,

My name is Raquel and I’m 27 years old. My dentist recently suggested that I get braces. I went to an orthodontist in Arlington, VA but quoted me $4,800 for Invisalign Express 6-9 months. I am Class 1 (normal), have an open bite, and spaced teeth. Does your practice do this type of treatment, and will it cost just as much?

Thanks,

Raquel Rogers
