Hi-

I just wanted to share my Invisalign experience. I am 22 years old and just finished my treatment. I did regular braces in high school but never wore my retainers. I learned the hard way...my teeth moved. It wasn't obvious to anyone that my teeth were not perfectly straight anymore but I noticed and thought I should do something about it.

My Invisalign treatment was amazing. I would recommend it to everyone that has the option of doing Invisalign over traditional braces. My treatment was 35 weeks/ 17 trays. It went by really fast. No one knew I was wearing my aligners unless I told them! I constantly brushed my teeth and my retainers so that they would be clear as possible.

The downside is you really have to be motivated to not skip wearing the retainers. If you have a problem with making yourself do something regular braces might be a better option because you cannot take them on and off. Some flexibility is allowed- For example: I didn't wear my aligners for a wedding; which is perfect because no one wants braces in a wedding photo.

I know the aligners can be painful at first but it is all worth it in the end. I always tried wearing my new set the night before I was supposed to start them- that way I didn't experience as much pain during the day.

My teeth are perfect again! I am very happy with my results. I made a promise to myself that I will wear my retainers this time! Good Luck!

I refuse to get traditional brace. Im very interested in invisalign. However, I have just a bit of overcrowding on the top teeth, but one of my canines is pretty out of place. Does anyon know if this type of treatment will work for this problem? Please email me

This is all seems to tie in with what i am experiencing now. I have only just had Invisalign fitted 3 days ago. I would hope that it gets better after your mouth gets used to the trays. The first 2 days were very hard, with incredible frustration and annoyance in the mouth. I wasn't able to concentrate on much at all. I am praying it's not as bad with subsequent trays, as the first tray!
Having said that, the invisible aspect of the trays is remarkable. I don't think it's possible for anyone to notice unless they look closely, you can't even see it yourself unless close up in the mirror.
Right now I would swap some invisibility for less pain, but I'm hoping it will improve :-))
I admit I used alcohol to numb the relentless pain and frustration on the first 2 days .....maybe the above advice on pain killers is better ;-)

I am currently using invisalign and had 3 cavities I needed filled, before my fillings set, my dentist put my trays in and my fillings were perfect and my trays unharmed. Your dentist should be familiar with working around this, it was no problem for mine! :)
